I looked at my little girl the other day and then I looked again. There was something different about her, and it had happened overnight. I took in her in my arms and asked her if she would “stop growing!”
“Please, Lark, stop growing. Stay little forever!”
“I can’t Mom!!! I have to keep growing!!”
I loved the double meaning of what she was saying to me. I looked at her again and thought, “She is so beautiful. I am so glad she is mine.”
Again I was reminded of the power of the photograph: even though they do continue to grow, each day, the pictures we take make them stay little, forever.
Each year, in an effort to help moms (and dads) keep their babies little forever I offer a Mamarazzi Workshop! It’s the perfect Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Birthday, Or I-Am-Worth-It-Damnit present! The class in previous years taught basic camera operations, lighting, and composition; however, this year is going to be a bit different, too!! I am shaking things up a adding to the mamarazzi curriculum!! It is going to be good!!! If you have already attended, you can certainly come again and have a completely different experience!!
Mamarazzi: A Photography Workshop Designed Especially For Moms is intended for mothers (and fathers) who want to better understand their cameras as a goal to better document their own kids.
The Mamarazzi workshop will actually run over the course of 3 months (we will be meeting once a month for three months). At each meeting we will discuss a different aspect of photography, namely, how to work all the buttons on your camera and what they mean, how to understand light and it’s fundamental requirement to photography, and how to compose your shots to aid you with better story-telling capabilities. AND this year I will be adding more light information with a practicum mini-shoot designed to help us find each type of light and shoot properly in it; I am also including Lightroom, Photoshop, and workflow management tips and tricks (nothing too extensive, but enough to get you started!! You don’t need to own the programs to participate! It will just show you what you can do with your images if you decide to make and investment in those programs! And if you have them and are wondering how to use them, then this will give you some basics!). I will also teach how to blog your images properly as a way to document and journal your children’s lives as a keepsake for both them and you, and I will share my favorite album making processes and companies to further add to your capabilities as a memory maker. Each class will be about two hours and will be packed with information, a few goodies to take with you to inspire you to get to shooting, some great edibles, and a good time away from small people to rejuvenate for a bit. 😉
Who is this workshop for: Moms (and Dads) who want to understand their cameras, take better photographs of their children, and learn behind he scenes tips and tricks in terms of how to really give your pictures the extra “wow factor”!
When will the workshop be held: (remember it is three evenings)
March 28th 7-9pm
April 11th 7-9pm
and May 23rd 7-9pm
Why three evenings? I want to spread the information out a bit to give us all time to practice and create. We will be focusing on certain aspects each month, creating a discussion board and a place to post our images for safe feedback. (I also want us to have a ladies night, each month. That’s how I see it playing out in my head at least. We learn cool photography stuff and then hang out and relax a bit.)
Where the workshop be held: ORANGE COUNTY THIS YEAR!!!! It will be held at a residence in Aliso Viejo.
What to bring: Your camera (Doesn’t matter what you have, but it would be best if you had a dslr which basically means a camera where you can change out the lenses. If you don’t have one, it’s totally cool; this class is still geared for you!! If you are in the market for buying a new camera let me know and I will make some suggestions. When we get into the PS stuff you can bring your laptops if you like or you can just take notes and practice at home!)
What will all of this cost? $295.00 for the three evenings of workshopping! (Your tuition includes a whole bunch of great knowledge on how to shoot better pictures of your own children, incredible after- dinner edibles, and a few surprises to help inspire you to get to shooting.)
I want to keep the class smallish, so if you are interested jump on it. 😉 I would love to meet you, and be able to discuss the most important role we have, and how to document it more passionately.
Join us! It’s going to be great!! Come and take advantage of this great offer to better learn how to document your child’s life.
Please email me at kamee@kameejune.com with any questions you might have!! Looking forward to meeting everyone!!
