Kamee June Photography bio picture

the looks of my life, the looks of my loves, and what I look like

i love the look on jaren’s face when we are at a party and I catch him staring at me from across the room, looking at me like he is seeing me for the first time. i love the smile i get from gunnar when we are on the carpet playing cars, trains, or dinosaurs; he stares at me amazed, like i am the coolest mom who has motorized and prehistoric sounds coming from my mouth. i am in love with the look i get from my new baby girl each morning when i get her out of bed; she beams because i am someone special to her. i love my parents’ faces when i walk through the doors of home after having been gone for a long time; their eyes fill with love, and i see a reminiscent comfort. i love the expression my sister gives when she realizes the adoption cleared; they will be getting another baby.  i love the weary grin on my brother’s face as he crosses the finish line of his 64th marathon.  i love the surprise on my girlfriend’s face when i gift her our favorite lip gloss we thought was discontinued. i love the look on my face when i find the perfect pair of slimming jeans or the most flattering swimsuit. i even love the look on children’s faces when they get all pouty and sad because they don’t get their way. i love the look of graduation day: the look of accomplishment, success, and the anticipated future. i love the look of a man totally devoted to one woman because she completes his heart. i love the look of unexpected surprises, the look of a fourth of july picnic, the look of first visits to disneyland, the look of falling stars, the look of winter's first snow, the look of a long overdue vacation, the look of winning soccer teams, the look of cookies fresh from the oven, the look of christmas morning, the look of family, the look of mothers drinking in their new babies, the look of unspoken yet powerfully present love. i love the expressions, the countenances, the features, and the presence of life and its undeniably endearing moments, and i love immortalizing them forever with my camera.

this blog fuses the looks of my life and looks of my loves. it follows my expressions of growth, both professional and personal, and it allows you to take a peek at my moments, my thoughts, and my heart.

i would love to meet your look.

what i believe

i head home today, this evening. i have missed my man and the littles, but have also enjoyed the quiet (funny, right? vegas isn’t that quiet!), and the time to be inspired and get some work done without distractions. i have also really enjoyed meeting up with friends and meeting friends, in general.

yesterday i was able to attend dane sander’s platform on the anatomy of a creative. everything i heard resonated with who i think i am as, well, a creative. those of you who read my blog know how fascinated i am by time. lately i have been considering how i spend mine. it has been a sobering awakening. dane shared today, “you must be faithful to who you were made to be while simultaneously doing what matters most.” imagine 2 hours of genius like that. i cried. (not the whole time and not hysterically like they needed to give me oxygen or something, but softly, you know? like when you watch the hallmark commercial and your heart warms and your eyes well. that type of crying. my nose might have dripped a little bit. just a little.no one saw.) and that’s just me sharing my truth right now. so much of what he discussed touched so much of the spirit of what i believe and who i am. he read this quote from mark twain, “most men die at 27…we just bury them at 72.” we get so caught up, most of the time in the trivial, that we forget to live. i am  a huge advocate of carpe diem, seizing the day, embracing the experience, the opportunity, life. what are you doing right now to show you are living? this whole experience at wppi has been an opportunity for me; it has rekindled in me the urgency for living that i have always believed in.

i am so grateful to have been a part of it.

March 11, 2010 - 1:20 am Crystel Shupe - I love the Mark Twain quote and especially the question: What are you doing right now to show that your are living? ~ Definatly something I need to work on! Thanks for spreading the inspiration. :)

March 10, 2010 - 9:05 pm Joy - Are you snort laughing in the "weird lady" picture?!? Seriously, I laughed out loud when I saw it--you are hilarious! Oh, and if Kellie lives next door, can I live across the street and we can all have walkie talkies to chat between our houses? See you in AZ in 2 weeks!

March 10, 2010 - 8:23 pm Amy B. - So cool to see you and Kellie! So glad you guys had a great time. I've really got to get on board next year. LOL

March 10, 2010 - 10:04 am Tracy - wow, i love that mark twain quote. i must get a life :) I must try to seize the day and catch up on sleep at the same time - is that possible?! Looks like you had a blast and can't wait for you to teach what you've learned.

March 10, 2010 - 8:52 am Bethany - Okay - so I am TOTALLY on board with your new post a day gig! LOVE IT!! Every post your write, I read twice. Once I "READ" read it and glance and the photos and then I go back and read it again while focusing on the images. I read this one twice, but for what you wrote. The past two weeks I have found myself stuck in a rut - trying to figure out where I belong and what in the world I am doing. Uninspired. Discouraged. Blah. In photography but also in life. Sad. Homesick. Accepting reality. It's been rough. Your amazing spirit and beautiful self can't get here soon enough...I'm serious. I totally need some Kamee. I am so excited to experience what you have experienced at WPPI...inspiration, creativity, friendship - those fuels that fire who we are. In the meantime, once you are home and settled, if you have anything I MUST here, you know where to find me!! :) Hugs!! Enjoy your last day in Vegas!
