this sonnet will not be new to many of you. it was one of my favorites to teach my students. i thought it appropriate to couple timeless poetry and language with classic beauty and poise.
sonnet 18 by william shakespeare
shall i compare thee to a summer’s day?
thou art far more lovely and more temperate;
rough winds do shake the darling buds of may.
and summer’s lease hath all too short a date;
sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines,
and oft’ is his gold complexion dimm’d;
and every fair from fair sometime declines
by chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d;
but they eternal summer shall not fade
nor lose possession of that fair thou owest’;
nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
when in eternal lines to time thou growest:
so long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
do long lives this and this gives life to thee.

essentially the speaker is saying that as long as there are eyes to read and lips to speak this poem, his enchanting muse will live on forever (all that mingled with a really cool summer metaphor about how she is way more beautiful than the summer!)
same with diana and these images. she has been immortalized forever; as long as eyes can see she will live on.
diana was my giveaway winner. it was a pleasure photographing her and when she told me what these images were going to be used for i was even more excited for her that she won. diana is also in the photography industry. she has recently moved to oregon and is working to rebuild her clientele and business, something she had already achieved in orange county. she is getting ready to relaunch a new site with a new, fresh look; these images are going to be a part of it. that makes me smile, and feel happy. success will follow you diana; you’ll see!!
