Kamee June Photography bio picture

The looks of my life; the looks of my loves, and what I look like.

I love the look on Jaren’s face when we are at a party and I catch him staring at me from across the room, looking at me like he is seeing me for the first time. I love the smile I get from Gunnar when we are on the carpet playing cars, trains, or dinosaurs; he stares at me amazed, like I am the coolest mom who has motorized and prehistoric sounds coming from my mouth. I am in love with the look I get from my baby girl each morning when i get her out of bed; she beams because I am someone special to her. I love my parents’ faces when I walk through the doors of home after having been gone for a long time; their eyes fill with love, and I see a reminiscent comfort. I love the expression my sister gives when she realizes the adoption cleared; they will be getting another baby.  I love the weary grin on my brother’s face as he crosses the finish line of his 64th marathon.  I love the surprise on my girlfriend’s face when I gift her our favorite lip gloss we thought was discontinued. I love the look on my face when I find the perfect pair of slimming jeans or the most flattering swimsuit. I even love the look on children’s faces when they get all pouty and sad because they don’t get their way. I love the look of graduation day: the look of accomplishment, success, and the anticipated future. I love the look of a man totally devoted to one woman because she completes his heart. I love the look of unexpected surprises, the look of a fourth of July picnic, the look of first visits to Disneyland, the look of falling stars, the look of Winter's first snow, the look of a long overdue vacation, the look of winning soccer teams, the look of cookies fresh from the oven, the look of christmas morning, the look of family, the look of mothers drinking in their new babies, the look of unspoken yet powerfully present love. I love the expressions, the countenances, the features, and the presence of life and its undeniably endearing moments, and I love immortalizing them forever with my camera.

This blog fuses the looks of my life and looks of my loves. It follows my expressions of growth, both professional and personal, and it allows you to take a peek at my moments, my thoughts, and my heart.

I would love to meet your look.

there was a short time of my life when i went without carbs. i don’t know if i will ever do that again. the first week was agonizing. the second, i think i just got used to it. by the end i did feel better to have completely cleansed. shortly after two weeks, when the cleanse was over, i bit into my first true bit of real carbohydrates; it felt like i was walking through the doors of home.

i love food. i wish i was better at making new entrees and trying new things at home. i hate to be disappointed when i eat, and i feel when i try new stuff, on my own, i always am.

food, really incredible food, is for sure fine art. the mixture of all the textures and flavors, mmmm. i getting hungry thinking about it! even the experience of eating can be an art. i have had several conversations with my sister in law, kim, about it. i hate it when a meal is prepared, a table set, and then the food is consumed in a criminal amount of time and the dishes cleared before anyone had the time to even ask, “how was the day.” kim and i would always remark how the conversation at dinner needed to be a part of the experience, how it needed to prolong the eating. every morsel combined with family (or friends, depending on the meal) and visiting could be considered a fine art exploration!

next time you prepare a meal and then sit down to enjoy it consider the entire experience fine art!

may you enjoy this month’s fine art, may all of it, on some level, make you hungry!!!

continue with the fine art circle by indulging in a little tamara burros of from the tree top photography!

happy “feasting”!

look me square in the eye and tell me a new born baby isn’t fine art. go on. tell me.

you can’t.

how can you first, look at something so perfect and deny any existence of deity, and second, say that the human body and what it does and creates isn’t fine art?

go on. tell me.

you can’t. didn’t think so.

i was so inspired by this baby, she had to be my fine art project this month. may it remind you of the fine art you created:

this month’s muse came from a few song lyrics, and, well, the side of a worn out wall.

just a few lines from round here by the counting crows

step out the front door like a ghost

into the fog where no one notices

the contrast of white on white

and inbetween the moon and you

the angels get a better view

of the crumbling difference between wrong and right

i walk in the air between the rain

through myself and back again

where?

maria says she dying

through the door i hear her crying

why?

round here we always stand up straight

round here something radiates…

thank you to avery for being our most willing and most beautiful model (and for gatering all the white wardrobe).

to katrina for avery’s hair and make up.

and to brianna and brooke for shootin’ and hangin’ with us!! was so much fun!!!

click here to follow the fine art circle for this month! i am sure you will be inspired by what tamara of from the tree top has created!!!

happy musing everyone! may you find inspiration at every turn!!

the winter queen

you’ve seen here before, but i can’t stop thinking about her today. so i thought we could revisit, seeing as it is her season and all.

love to maria, kat, and teryn. these images remind me of all of you!

the winter queen by e.j. stevens

In the dark world of Shadow
During Solstice the Longest Night
The Winter Queen stirs
While her dreaded frost minions
Take flight

In this land of cold and fear
Stands a palace of ice and stone
Where locked deep within
Sits the Winter Queen upon
Her throne

Awareness returns to her
As she tries to open her eyes
Memory and pain
Erupts, but ice seals away
Her cries

The only thing not frozen
Are Winter Queen’s immortal tears
Which sparkle as they
Flow down her cheeks mingling with
Her fears

No one dare enter her realm
No man will ever kiss her lips
For death lingers in
Her embrace, into abyss
He’ll slip

So on this dark Solstice night
The Winter Queen sits upon her throne
Knowing she will sit here
Forever frozen and all
Alone.

one image this month. just one to make you consider, make you think on a higher level, make you wonder and make you look twice, just in case you are missing something…

i want to know what you are thinking. look at her several times today. come back and ruminate. think about the textures, colors, light, and then formulate an opinion. what does she mean? what are you supposed to understand? what are you supposed to glean from this one piece? every artist is trying to tell you something; sometimes what we take is their intended meaning and sometimes we absorb what is needed for us, in our current truth. what does she speak to you? what does she teach you about self?

i want to start a discussion here, want to know your thoughts, and how they apply to us all…just like a main purpose of art: i want to expand our shared knowledge of a common visual experience.

i’ll chime in here and there and for sure at the end of the day to elucidate on our concept.

in the meantime, consider, think, feel, wonder, enjoy:

from my heart thank you to nicole deanne,(hair and make up design) nancy jr.,(floral headpiece design) and violet fiori,(model design ;)) for the shared vision.

nicole, you bleed talent. it drips from you. it must be painful to be as good as you are! as cool as you are! ;) thank you so much for carrying through the concept with your genius hair and make up; LOVED working together on this. and the crimper? art in itself. ;) xoxo to you, friend!!

nancy, wherever you walk flowers bloom. i love it after our visits because i find petals everywhere; they remind me of you and your gift to see people and the flowers that represent them. just thinking of you inspires me. thank you, for everything! so grateful for the aquatic zone; who knew!?!

and andrea, couldn’t have been possible with out a lovely canvas. thank you for bringing the idea to life. was so nice meeting; looking forward to photographing more of you soon!! ;)

thank you again for being a part of this month’s project and for stretching yourselves as well to make it happen!! love to you all!

follow wendy’s link here for more of this month’s fine art circle; her image is absolutely incredible!!
