Kamee June Photography bio picture

The looks of my life; the looks of my loves, and what I look like.

I love the look on Jaren’s face when we are at a party and I catch him staring at me from across the room, looking at me like he is seeing me for the first time. I love the smile I get from Gunnar when we are on the carpet playing cars, trains, or dinosaurs; he stares at me amazed, like I am the coolest mom who has motorized and prehistoric sounds coming from my mouth. I am in love with the look I get from my baby girl each morning when i get her out of bed; she beams because I am someone special to her. I love my parents’ faces when I walk through the doors of home after having been gone for a long time; their eyes fill with love, and I see a reminiscent comfort. I love the expression my sister gives when she realizes the adoption cleared; they will be getting another baby.  I love the weary grin on my brother’s face as he crosses the finish line of his 64th marathon.  I love the surprise on my girlfriend’s face when I gift her our favorite lip gloss we thought was discontinued. I love the look on my face when I find the perfect pair of slimming jeans or the most flattering swimsuit. I even love the look on children’s faces when they get all pouty and sad because they don’t get their way. I love the look of graduation day: the look of accomplishment, success, and the anticipated future. I love the look of a man totally devoted to one woman because she completes his heart. I love the look of unexpected surprises, the look of a fourth of July picnic, the look of first visits to Disneyland, the look of falling stars, the look of Winter's first snow, the look of a long overdue vacation, the look of winning soccer teams, the look of cookies fresh from the oven, the look of christmas morning, the look of family, the look of mothers drinking in their new babies, the look of unspoken yet powerfully present love. I love the expressions, the countenances, the features, and the presence of life and its undeniably endearing moments, and I love immortalizing them forever with my camera.

This blog fuses the looks of my life and looks of my loves. It follows my expressions of growth, both professional and personal, and it allows you to take a peek at my moments, my thoughts, and my heart.

I would love to meet your look.

My Walking Fairytale, Mamarazzi III: A Photography Workshop for Moms

Email

She’s a little walking fairytale. Filled with sprites, sparkly dragons, whimsy, and her very own, couture, love potions. And she has all of us, everyone in her kingdom, all her loyal subjects, completely, and utterly under her spell.

I want to freeze her pretty life, her brother’s too, make it stand still, just so I can drink them in a bit more!! I hope they know how much I love them; I hope they feel it, see it, and believe it, every single day. I hope they know they are my greatest accomplishments! I also hope I do justice to their youth by documenting it as often as I can. I know as parents we all feel a certain weight of responsibility in terms of our children: love them, educate them, teach them, prepare them. I also think we feel a responsibility to document them. Both of my kids have enjoyed looking at their baby books lately. It has been fun to reminisce with them, telling stories about the funny little things they “used to do”, and “used to say”. It reminded me of the importance to keep track of their fleeting memories.  The more women I talk to the more I discover that they too, want to take really great images of their children to immortalize this time in their lives, all of our lives. It’s time to start documenting everything whimsical and sweet (and even the not so sweet, but will- be- hysterically- funny- later- on) moments of your children’s and your life!

Mamarazzi: A Photography Workshop Designed Especially For Moms is intended for mothers (and fathers) who want to better understand their cameras as a goal to better document their own kids.

The Mamarazzi workshop will actually run over the course of 3 months (we will be meeting once a month for three months). At each meeting we will discuss a different aspect of photography, namely, how to work all the buttons on your camera and what they mean, how to understand light and it’s fundamental requirement to photography, and how to compose your shots to aid you with better story telling capabilities. Each class will be about two hours and will be packed with information, a few goodies to take with you to inspire you to get to shooting, some great edibles, and a good time away from small people to rejuvenate for a bit. ;)

Side Note: If you have taken the class before, you are absolutely welcome to come again! The content will be similar, but I am changing things up a bit!! There will be some newness for sure!! ;)

Who is this workshop for: moms (and dads) who want to take better pictures of their children

When will the workshop be held: (remember it is three evenings)

February 22nd 7-9pm

March 22nd 7-9pm

and April 19th 7-9pm

Why three evenings? I want to spread the information out a bit to give us all time to practice and create. We will be focusing on certain aspects each month, creating a discussion board and a place to post our images for safe feedback. (I also want us to have a ladies night, each month. That’s how I see it playing out in my head at least. We learn cool photography stuff and then hang out and relax a bit.)

Where the workshop be held: My place, in Corona, CA.

What to bring: Your camera (Doesn’t matter what you have, but it would be best if you had a dslr which basically means a camera where you can change out the lenses. If you don’t have one, it’s totally cool; this class is still geared for you!! If you are in the market for buying a new camera let me know and I will make some suggestions.)

What will all of this cost? $265.00 for the three evenings of workshopping! (Your tuition includes a whole bunch of great knowledge on how to shoot better pictures of your own children, incredible after dinner edibles, and a few surprises to help inspire you to get to shooting.)

I want to keep the class smallish, so if you are interested jump on it. ;) I would love to meet you and have you in my home to be able to discuss the most important role we have, and how to document it more passionately.

Join us! It’s going to be great!! Come and take advantage of this great offer to better learn how to document your child’s life.

A few mom’s from the first Mamarazzi class shared this:

To say Kamee is a good photographer would be true, but she’s more like incredible. To say Kamee is a good instructor would be true, but she’s more like inspirational. In one night, my eyes were opened to the power of a great image. Over the course of the workshop I began to feel like a true photographer for my little girl and family. Kamee taught us to compose beautiful shots using variable light for differing effects. She showed us how to operate our cameras and get more from them than automatic settings could produce. Kamee can teach anything and you will have fun; photography is her passion and you will likely take some of it with you. You will receive incredible support and encouragement from the other mommies too. If you are considering this workshop…sign up for sure!! –Anne

Mamarazzi turned my interest in photography into a passion. I learned how to capture the priceless personailities and precious memories of my little ones as they truly are in the moment which is something that my family and I will forever treasure. As an aspiring photography hobbiest, the class provided a foundation for future endeavors, as a mom, I was given the opportunity to learn how to beautifully document the lives of my children in a way that conveys how I see and treasure them everyday. Thank you kamee for that priceless gift! –Sandra

Went into this class wanting to learn what the buttons on my camera were. iIdid learn that and so, so, so much more! Not only did I learn to take beautiful natural pictures of my daughter but I unwrapped a new creative hobby! All the ladies in the class were so encouraging, inspiring, and sweet!!! And kamee, well I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher! I left so inspired and the passion is still burning strong! People ask me questions about their camera all the time now! It is not something I could just “quickly explain”. That’s why i HIGHLY recommend this class! –Monica

Please Email me with any questions you might have!! Looking forward to having you as a part of Mamarazzi III!

“white” christmas: making magic

Email

jaren and i feel we are hanging on to gun’s innocence in regards to christmas by a thread. he still wholeheartedly believes and is totally motivated by the “you better behave or i will call santa; i have him on speed dial” schtick! but there are enough kids on the playground sharing their thoughts on the myths of the holiday that have him questioning for sure!! i still believes, but has started the questions for sure and in the meantime we carry on with the elf on the shelf and the mystical north pole, and yada yada yada, and we all LOVE it!!! i will admit that even when i was let in on the secret of the holiday i still wanted to believe in my heart that there really was a santa claus. i like to image that there really is, it’s sweet to think of, when you think of it, jolly man, elves that do his bidding, fresh baked cookies at a whim, cozy year long fire, being a part of the most favorite and celebrated time of year, not a bad gig.

during the holidays jaren and i both wish for much cooler temps and just for the month of december, literally december 1 it falls and dec 31 it is swept away, we wish for snow!! our kids have yet to see, and fell, and dance in and lie in, and make angels, in real snow!

a few days ago we dropped homework and other responsibilities to make a little bit of magic, and hopefully a memory or two.

gun and lark, you two are magic to me!! i love you, mom

fake snow at target: $2.50

making it snow with my children: priceless

and because of these two i will keep the magic alive as long. as. i. can.

a bit of whimsy

The midnight sky lay stretched before me,
as I quickly tiptoed ‘cross the milky way ~
and stars became my effervescent stepping stones
while moonbeams gleamed in brilliant, golden rays.

A myriad of twinkling gems were strung awry,
as though welcoming me with their brilliant light,
and there seemed a million dreams to be fulfilled
as stardust fell upon this rare and lustrous night.

A curving moon, not full, but only quarter-size,
beckoned to me as I gently leaped from star to star
and to moon’s side I swiftly flew, beguiled,
by it’s light that softly set the night afire.

Curving to the crescent shape with quickened heart,
held within a realm of bending light ~
my eyes fell upon the rounded world below
and there I cast a wish upon a star in flight.

Alas, sleep tiptoed by to dim the moon and stars,
as I hung suspended ‘twixt earth and dreams
in a place where nothing’s truly real ~
and nothing’s ever really as it seems…

A place called ‘Whimsy’…

my little spooks

Email

about a year ago i got together with a colleague and friend of mine, renee hindman, happens to inspire me on so many levels. she is a mom first and a photographer second, but she tries to shoot something once a month that is just for her kids. i love listening to her stories of all the shoots she has put together for her girls! it has inspired me to want to do more with mine! to make memories for them, of them. renee and i are starting an annual october shoot. last year we did the pumpkin patch with a charlie brown infusion.

this year we let our little spooks “haunt” the carriage house. next year, well, you’ll have to wait and see!! ;)

doesn’t matter the shoot; pictures of my littles are invaluable to me! i love these images and these two so very much!! and i especially love the memories we are making while they are so little!! i can hear them playing “haunted house” right now with their friends. it’s making me smile; i want their childhoods to be so filled with so many fond things!

gunnar and larkin, you hold my heart!!! i love you both so much!! xxoo mom

the next two? i love ‘em!

oh my boy, you are getting so big, so handsome, and are so sweet!! stay that way, forever please!!!

right about here lark decided she had had enough of haunting that house. and even though she was alive she was making sounds that would wake the dead:

i love you both so much my little spooks; my life would be scary without you!! ;) xoxo mom
