Kamee June Photography bio picture

The looks of my life; the looks of my loves, and what I look like.

I love the look on Jaren’s face when we are at a party and I catch him staring at me from across the room, looking at me like he is seeing me for the first time. I love the smile I get from Gunnar when we are on the carpet playing cars, trains, or dinosaurs; he stares at me amazed, like I am the coolest mom who has motorized and prehistoric sounds coming from my mouth. I am in love with the look I get from my baby girl each morning when i get her out of bed; she beams because I am someone special to her. I love my parents’ faces when I walk through the doors of home after having been gone for a long time; their eyes fill with love, and I see a reminiscent comfort. I love the expression my sister gives when she realizes the adoption cleared; they will be getting another baby.  I love the weary grin on my brother’s face as he crosses the finish line of his 64th marathon.  I love the surprise on my girlfriend’s face when I gift her our favorite lip gloss we thought was discontinued. I love the look on my face when I find the perfect pair of slimming jeans or the most flattering swimsuit. I even love the look on children’s faces when they get all pouty and sad because they don’t get their way. I love the look of graduation day: the look of accomplishment, success, and the anticipated future. I love the look of a man totally devoted to one woman because she completes his heart. I love the look of unexpected surprises, the look of a fourth of July picnic, the look of first visits to Disneyland, the look of falling stars, the look of Winter's first snow, the look of a long overdue vacation, the look of winning soccer teams, the look of cookies fresh from the oven, the look of christmas morning, the look of family, the look of mothers drinking in their new babies, the look of unspoken yet powerfully present love. I love the expressions, the countenances, the features, and the presence of life and its undeniably endearing moments, and I love immortalizing them forever with my camera.

This blog fuses the looks of my life and looks of my loves. It follows my expressions of growth, both professional and personal, and it allows you to take a peek at my moments, my thoughts, and my heart.

I would love to meet your look.

I love wearing my pink and red, and revealing surprises from the “Love Bug” to my children! And I especially love whatever ever little love note or night out my man plans for us.

baby ava: a christmas elf

Email

i love this little family, so much.

a baby, at any time, is a gift. a baby, at christmas time,  is magic.

emma teased that she looks like a little house elf; i am sure that she has changed so much since we shot these images that she is out of her house elf stage. i couldn’t help but think of emma’s baby elf when i moved our elf on the shelf today!! i giggled a little thinking of emma calling her a “little dobby”. i am certain, like the magic our little elf brings to my children each day, ava, a literal present, brings so much joy to her parents’ lives and all those that know her.

what a priceless time in life, for everyone.

so happy i could spend a bit of time making a few memories of some of the sweetest days of newborn life.

emma, david, and baby elf (aka ava):

thank you for sharing so much of your life with me! so grateful for all the time we have together and for the example of true love and respect you are to me!!! may this season be filled with so much happy, more than you ever felt you could feel!! i love you guys, so much!!! xx nuz

love you!! and your pretty baby girl elf!!!! xx kj

i feel my life is so rich and blessed with good friends who love, support, and encourage me. i am grateful for all of the friendships i have made through photography and feel that part of the reason i was lead on this journey was so i could meet all of these genuine people who have added so much texture to my life!  tracy and her family are a few of those people! i have known tracy now for several years and am so thankful she is a part of my life! she is an uplifting friend and person!! seeing her, when i do, is always a gift!!! seeing her family, being with her children, and listening to her husband talk (he’s from france; they are going there for the holidays *jealous*) is always, always a treat!!!! ;)

tracy, thank you. thank you for being my friend and a blessing in my life!!!!

happy holidays to you!!!! xx

love you guys!!! xxoo kj

prelude to a baby

Email

this was the first email i got from katie:

“Hi Kamee,

My name is Katie and I would like to first tell you the interesting way of how I first stumbled upon your blog.  My husband is awesomely named Kam, so when I was searching to see if I can name ”Kam and Fam” for our blog, and was quite peeved that it already has been taken by you!  So out of resentment and curiosity, I decided to read your blog to see if you’re worthy of taking our blog name, and couldn’t stop ever since.

I’ve followed your stories about your 2 little ones and your blossoming and successful career as a photographer.  Now the time has come that we need someone to capture pregnancy memories of our first child, and I thought how wildly appropriate it would be to inquire about your services…”

i couldn’t stop smiling; i clicked reply and told her so. i knew, instantaneously, that i was going to love this couple! i was so looking forward to meeting the other kam. katie and i even joked about us being each other’s doppelganger, which in itself, is so funny! the day of the shoot they were ever bit as sweet and fun as i thought they would be. katie is having a text book pregnancy and i am so happy for her. she is so elegant and graceful; a few times she looked like a pristine statue of a pending mother goddess. she would glide effortlessly as her breezy dress trailed behind. she’s the pregnant lady we all wish we could be. so beautiful, so regal, so filled with life, metaphorically and literally! her pregnancy thus far has been peaceful. she did say she has started having a bit of heart burn. oh, the agonizing days of pregnancy heartburn… i can empathize on every level. i was thinking of her, of course, while working on these images; while her heart was burning for psyiological reasons, mine was burning with excitment at the thought of these two, really sweet, good, and kind people becoming parents and raising a son as equally charming as they.

katie and kam, there is so much excitement and joy awaiting you! i know you will welcome it all with warmth, enthusiasm, cheer, and much laughter! to the other kam and fam, may you endure the heartburn! ;) it really is just a moment in comparison to the love you will feel for your baby! i am so happy to have met and so happy for you both; riley is one lucky fella! much love to you all, kj

your christmas list

Email

did you add this workshop to it?

get it on the list. put it at the top. if you ask for anything this year; if you attend anything, at all, this year, it has to be this.

the love+marriage=baby carriage workshop is just a few months away. julie and i are getting all of the details together and are so excited for what is to unfold in march! we would LOVE for you to be a part of it!!

check out all of the details on the workshop here.

you will leave the workshop filled with so much. so much inspiration and knowledge. your two days will include tips and tricks on how to help you be a better shooter at all things love (engagment), marriage (wedding), and baby carriage (new borns, kids, and families). this workshop will make you, hands down, a more holistic shooter and more savvy entrepreneur and business owner. get ready to take yourself, your technique, and your business to an entirely new level.

it needs to be on your list. and julie and i have everything crossed that the santa’s in your life deliver it under your tree!

a few hugs and kisses for luck, may you get your wish!

a few baby snuggles and family loves will add some extra luck:

and a giddy laugh at the possiblity that you could be attending a really incredible workshop, a really incredible place to build community and skill:

and some random prettiness to remind you that everything you shoot at the workshop, everything, will be yours, for your portfolio building. and there will be about 4 shoots. that’s a whole lot of pretty:

here’s hoping you get all of the wishes on your list and that you are able to attend the workshop in march!! please contact me or julie if you have any questions!! until then, happy list making and holidays!! xoxo kj

the more i consider

life and it’s levels the more i come back to the importance of good people, and surrounding yourself with them. the more time i spend with syl the more time i want to spend with her, because she is one of those. the kind that uplift, the kind that make you feel like you are the only person in the world when she is with you, the kind that support your dreams and hold your heart, good and safe, nice and warm. i love syl and all she stand for and believes in. she does make this world a better place just by being a part of it. i am grateful for her influence on me; i am thankful for the support and encouragement she offers me as a friend and colleague; i appreciate the perspective she offers and the understanding she is always willing to share.

i don’t believe in chance. i feel all things happen because we need them at a certain reason at a specific time. i need this incredible person in my life, and i am so glad she is in it!

thank you syl, from my heart, for being so good to me, and everyone you know and meet!! you are touching lifes, and that, is what matters!!

happy holidays syl!! may they be as bright as you are!!!! love to you all, kj
