a tree grows…

in manhattan.

“let me be something every minute of every hour of my life. let me be gay; let me be sad. let me be cold; let me be warm. let me be hungry…have too much to eat. let me be ragged or well dressed. let me be sincere-be deceitful. let me be truthful; let me be a liar. let me be honorable and let me sin. only let me be something every blessed minute. and when I sleep, let me dream all the time so that not one little piece of living is ever lost.”

- betty smith, a tree grows in brooklyn, Ch. 48

these two are going to make you feel, so much.

a love affair

the charasmatic city wrapped me tightly in its enchanting arms, and, without hesitation kissed me.

something. like. this.

and i’ll never be the same.

i am currently sorting through 4803 images similar to this. each one kisses me the way the city did.

the love affair was on the brink before, but i am wholeheartedly in love with the city now.

more kisses from new york city soon…

i’m slow, but still so grateful!

you all know the lag you feel when you get back from a trip; it takes a good week to get back into things for sure.

i knew nicole at the photographer diaries was cookin’ up something good for the launch of her new blog, but i didn’t know it was going to be the week i got back!!

i am so slow to get this up, but am none the less incredibly grateful for her and the spotlight she shared for a week with me! she is going to be doing some incredible stuff on her newly established blog!! check it out. add it to your favorites. it’s going to be like the coffee shop, the really cool coffee shop, for photographers of all levels!!

thank you nicole for sharing your passion with me and allowing me to be a part of your vision!! can’t wait to see what you do and where you go!! thank you again for the shout-out and the love!!

and because all posts are better with a picture…something from nyc: a baked good that frequents my dreams…

thank yous to katrina for all the genius hair, make up and styling, to rachel for sharing the vision and encouragement, and to lexi for pulling out her best country (the boots were perfect!! ;))

i just posted how nice it is to have those days where you just don’t worry about how you look. it is nice. it feels good to not worry, but at the same time i think all women want to feel pretty and noticed, admirably noticed for one of her features that is unlike the rest of group of friends. all women want to hear something of their beauty; it’s just who we are as the eternal feminine. it’s good to dress up, to find new things that fit you and your style perfectly, to get your make up just right and to walk a bit taller because it adds just an extra bit of confidence to an already esteemed woman!

i love to have my hair done. my nails manicured, my eyebrows done. it just helps add to the spirit of beauty that i love to feel.

it’s good to be admired, by the little people you feed cereal to eat day, to the man who walks in from the door around 5pm, even by friends and those close to you. admired for your beauty but also your heart! i am certain a level of confidence comes when we doll ourselves up a bit and go with everything we’ve got!!

if today is one of those days were you just feel you need a little extra something to make yourself feel beautiful and loved then go and get that extra “with”. find a new gloss, get some new shoes, mani? pedi? do something to remind yourself that inwardly and outwardly you are beautiful and so worth it!!!

thank you to katrina for all of shareen’s styling! it was a great day of kickin it!!

my life is pretty crazy. really. some days i am in and out, up and down, on and off, here and there, basically every dichotomous preposition you can think of.

the days when i am home and have no where to be are rare, but  i take advantage of them. wholeheartedly. i don’t do my hair, or make up, or really care about much of my appearance, because i just have, to be, at home, good and mellow, and that’s always nice. it’s liberating actually to not care about those things. and i feel there is a certain beauty to all women underneath everything we use to cover up.

i believe there is such a natural rawness to us that is so intriguing and beautiful.

here’s to going without. to capturing the essence of the beauty underneath. to just taking a deep breath. to not worrying about wardrobe, hair or make up, to anything extrinsic, because really, it’s only the intrinsic that matters.

the team

no matter how you look at it you can’t do too much in this life without the help and support of others. that’s just the truth. the most independent person still needs a few buttresses! it’s the same with any business, large or small! i am constantly reminded of the incredible people i have working along side me to make things tick for kamee june. my assistant amanda came by yesterday; i breath a breathe of fresh air every time she comes over. she make the sun rise and set for this little biz. likewise, it was a relief beyond description to turn all of my taxes over to my accountant, kristine, who knows numbers and deductions like no one’s business. i am grateful for what she does for me monthly to keep me square and to remind me to pay myself too; all the while remaining as cool as a cucumber and reassuring me that a growing business is great even if there are more taxes to pay! ;) i am so grateful for so many people: my friends, my family, my clients, everyone who believes in me, my husband, especially, who supports the dream and wants it to happen as much as i do! i am grateful too for my children, and trying to understand that mom “has to work”, and that work makes her a better mommy! ;)

i have learned the importance too of outsourcing! it has given me so much of my life back!! one of the greatest components of my business has been my album company, photostory albums. i have been working with april and her team since i started including albums a few years ago, and have been nothing but happy with the results that, collectively, we have created! april’s style in terms of design is timeless and classic; i knew when looking through her example albums that we were going to be a great match! she customizes everything to fit the needs to the specific look and also the desires of the client and she does it all with grace and amiability! she is an outstanding communicator and checks in with me on any decisions that need to be made as soon as they arise. her customer care is non-paralled; she is responsive, quick, and polite. she listens to my needs and the needs of our clients and she applies everything that is given to her to create a fine art album!

i know she believes in me and wants my business to succeed, and she also understands she is a part of that growth!

i love working with her, so much! i look forward to album orders because it means i get to see her and visit with her regularly. the answer is always “yes” with april; whatever i need, whenever i need it, however it needs to be done. she sprinkles her magic dust and it all happens! she is for sure a shining member of the kamee june family! i trust her explicitly to create beautiful fine art albums for my clients to cherish for years to come. i appreciate her friendship, constant effort to create beautiful reflections of memories, and her support of me and my dreams! i am sure you will love her as much as i do!

her company is having it’s official launch party on wednesday the 20th of april. it’s going to be such a great night and we want to invite all of you to come!! it’s going to be a great night and a chance for you to learn more about an album company that will be true to you and your business for its lifetime! come! we would love to have you!! it will be a great chance for you to get your hands on the albums, visit with april, learn more about the process and options she offers, and build your photographic community!! join us! it will be great!!

be our guest! the evening will be filled with eats, treats, and an opportunity to build your photographic community!! hope to see you there!!!

When : Wednesday April 20th
Time : 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Place : 261 E Imperial Hwy Suite 520, Fullerton CA 92835

if you are unable to make the launch party feel free to contact april at april@apsimaging.com at with any of your questions regarding albums and album design. you will be so happy you did!! ;)
